Sinopsis: Mientras Stefan (Paul Wesley) trata con su nueva situación, Elena (Nina Dobrev) y Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) son sorprendidos por la visita de su tio, John Gilbert (David Anders). Alaric (Matt Davis) tiene una incómoda conversación con Elena sobre Isobel. En la fiesta de “El Día de los Fundadores” Stefan muestra un extraño comportamiento y el intento de Damon (Ian Somerhalder) de averiguar por qué John Gilbert ha vuelta al pueblo toma un mal camino. Un accidente en la fiesta causa problemas entre Matt (Zach Roerig) y Tyler (Michel Trevino). Mientras tanto, los esfuerzos de Elena para animar a Jeremy no sirven para nada y él decide arreglar los problemas por si mismo.
